Sailfish and Mahia off Ft Lauderdale aboard Hooked Up

Capt. Taco Perez

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Nov 7
This morning we started out fishing with Sylvia, Yank and Gilles from Canada.
We went right to trolling with a couple lines set down deep and 3 baits skipping across the surface.
Today trolling was good with everyone catching fish. We caught a few kingfish, a bunch of bonitos and Sylvia ended up with a great catch when he reeled in a big Wahoo.

Thanks again to our new friends from Canada.

As we got back to the dock we got ready for this 2 boat-fishing trip with the Mix Telemematicf and their client/friends from Texas.
We had aboard the Hooked up Jeff, Shawn, Brad, Stan and Adam. (If I got names wrong sorry could not read writing) Might have been the beer?
All the same this little fishing trip turned into a serious competition between the 2 boats Hooked Up and Hooked Up 2.
And today fishing was good!!
Both boats started out catching a few Mahi Mahi but Hooked Up came on strong with a small sailfish. But than the Hooked Up 2 caught up quick with a double-header sailfish. Than Hooked up came back with a big 80-inch sailfish caught by Stan.

WOW what a great afternoon of fishing for both boats.
Looking back on the trip while our anglers hooked and caught a lot of fish the Hooked Up team made out the best because I think we got 10 more people Hooked on fishing!!
Thanks again to all of our anglers today it was a blast and we are looking forward to fishing together again soon.

Today we fished with Julia, Colonia, Josh, Mega and Marcel from New Jersey and Connie from Ohio.
We started out trolling and today trolling WAS GREAT!! We started out catching some kingfish and bonitos bonito's bonitos I mean one after another.
All of a sudden we got a bite on one of our deep lines and this was no bonito.
After a 10 min back and forth tug a war up popped this Wahoo and before you could say Wahoo Mike reached out with his gaff and BAM he was in the box.
Ok now that we had a box full of fish we brought in the trolling gear and set out our kites with live baits suspended from them.
We were hoping to get lucky and maybe catch a sailfish.

NOPE not today we were just too lucky to catch (A) sailfish so we just went ahead and caught 2 sails.
WOW what an exciting day of deep-sea fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.
Thanks again to our anglers today it was a BLAS!!

Today we fished with Paul, Hal and Kito from Connecticut.
We started out picking up some live baits from the bait boat on our way out and once we got to 150 feet of water we set out both kites with 4 live baits suspended from them.
Once the trap was set it was not long till our first bite. We hooked into a Mahia Mahia and soon after the first one the second Mahia popped up.
Fishing really started out good and we were catching Mahia one after another when all of a sudden a big sailfish popped up and BAM the BIG fight was on.
After a good 20 min back and forth battle we finally got this BIG 89 inch sailfish to the boat!

This morning we started out fishing with Rence, David, Scott and Nick from CSN Developments
Since we had done so well kite fishing the day before we figured to go right back to kite fishing with live baits suspended from the kites.
But as luck would have it the bite had slowed down and we only ended up with 1 Mahia Mahia but it was a nice 12 to 15 pounder.

As we pulled back into the dock we had our afternoon trip eager to give their luck a shot at some deep-sea fishing off Fort Lauderdale.
We had John from Conn Don from Atlanta Georgia and Bennett from New Jersey.
Once again we went right to kite fishing but this afternoon things had turned around a bit a the fish were biting.
We ended up with 4 Mahia Mahia and one nice sailfish.
It never stops surprising me how the fishing can some times turn on and off like a light switch.
Thanks again to all of our anglers for fishing with us today aboard the Hooked Up.

More Fishing Reports:

Hi my name is Taco and I run one of the best charter fishing boats down here in South Florida. WHY? Because I’ve been fishing the waters down here since 1969 and I started at the bottom and worked my way up the ladder. I know what it is like to read a web site and than once you get to boat things are not as you thought they would be. Not here I say it like it is. No surprises. I’ve got a 45 foot Hatteras with a big cock pit. Fully aircondishened and refrigerated. Big comfortable platform.
