Al Bifolco and his son, Anthony, were down from the northeast to get in some fishing and decided to charter the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. We had a nice day with easterly winds and calm seas ranging from 1 to 2 feet.

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in the water at 120 ft., 1.8 miles from shore. Shortly after getting the three baits set, I adjusted the boat keeping the bow in the current and wind. It important to hold the depth of water to effectively fish these baits. It allows for the scent and oil to keep behind the boat creating a scent trail.

All of a sudden, the middle bait started to move out of position which is a good sign. The clicker started to click and the drag started to rip out. We had a big shark on! Al was our angler and he fought this fish gaining and losing line. Next, his son, Anthony, was up fighting the Shark, also gaining and losing line. Al and Anthony both took turns fighting this Shark for a few hours and both guys did a great job. After changing angles on the Shark and applying different angling techniques, the monster finally surfaced, a 12' Thresher Shark. We got some photos, cut the hooks out and released this sea monster back into the waters. Great job Al and Anthony fighting this killer Thresher Shark.

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
