Matt Landis and his son, Reilly, from Colorado chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep-sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started the charter targeting Black Fin Tunas in 400 feet of water south of Fort Lauderdale using a full spread of surface Tuna lures and a couple of deep lures. I trolled over a deep wreck structure and found a school of Tuna. Once we started getting strikes, I stayed in the area and worked over the wreck. Both Matt and Reilly took turns catching Tuna, and got strikes on the Tuna lures and the deep sea witch lure. The anglers caught a total of 6 Tunas.

Next, we trolled up to another wreck north of Fort Lauderdale where we have been targeting Groupers, Snappers and Amberjacks. Our first mate, Troy, rigged up a live bait and sent him down with a 2 pound lead. After some time, we got a huge bite – the rod bent over, and Matt started battling this fish. With a good drag going out, up popped a 50 pound Amberjack. We got the fish in the boat for a photo, removed the hooks and released the fish. We then trolled the reef back to the southern grounds picking up a bunch of Bonitas and a Kingfish.

After a great fishing charter, it was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
