Snook & Tarpon Fishing In Ft Lauderdale Mullet Run 2024 Update

Capt. Dennis Crowley
September 7, 2024
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Plenty of good sized fish this week! we had the opening of snook season, lots of small white bait everywhere, tough weather but still got out there and made it happen. With the mullet run right around the corner, Ft. Lauderdale will be heating up real soon. Reports of schools of mullet in Palm Beach. I figure we should start seeing them in the next couple weeks. This past week the tarpon bite has been spread out finding a few fish here and there. Using pilchards for bait, locking in and chumming up the water with smaller baits then floating back bigger ones till we hookup. Once the sun sets we target the fish on bottom around the bridges with artificials (flair hawks & big swim baits) and chunks of cut bait. The rain made it easy to get a few nice fish on topwater especially the juvie tarpon, and early morning trips have produced some quality snook off the beach and jetties too. Still favoring the evening trips, sunset into the night has been best for snook. Soon we will be full swing in the middle of the mullet run here in Ft. Lauderdale. This is the best time of the year for BIG tarpon and snook so book your trips sooner than later. Follow @flatbottomcharters on instagram for the most up to date info. If you are in the Fort Lauderdale area and are looking for the fight of a lifetime look no further! We will be targeting GIANT Tarpon and Snook on relatively light tackle, hooking into fish in the 100lb+ range. These big Tarpon put on quite a show, jumping 6+ feet out of the water, pulling a TON of drag, breaking a lot of gear and a lot of hearts. But if you have the determination and with a little bit of luck you just might land the fish of a lifetime. Come out and test your skills against the
