Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Chris Osker along with his son, Chris, age 12, from New York chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some father and son bonding on a deep sea sport fishing trip. Winds were out of the east at 7 mph, seas running 2-3 ft., temperatures in the mid 80's – a gorgeous day here in Fort Lauderdale FL.

Chris Jr. put a request for a Shark so off we went to the Shark grounds located in 350 ft. of water south of Fort Lauderdale. We put three Shark baits out – one on the surface, one mid-range and one on the bottom – and one kite with two live Goggle Eyes on each kite. After an hour and half of Shark fishing and no bites, it was time to make a move, so I decided to go into 180 ft. of water and put up two kites and one Shark bait down. The wait was not long – not for a Shark, but for a Sailfish. Left long!!! As the Sailfish exited the water showing off his magnificent colors as the sun reflected on him. 12 year old Chris jumped into the fighting chair to do battle. Twenty-five minutes later, Mark, our mate, wired the 84 " Sailfish for picture taking and then was released to fight again. With time running out, I told Chris, Jr., your order for your Shark will have to wait for your next fishing trip.

Father and son retired into the a/c salon aboard the Happy Day Today for the trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
