Sport Fishing Fort Lauderdale

Capt. David Zsak

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Tim and Pennie Hattey along with their family, Erin, Steph, Jessie and Dylon from Kansas City chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. We had blue skies, winds out of the east at 10 mph, seas running 2-3 ft., typical beautiful Florida weather.

The Hattey's arrived from Kansas City, MO and came directly to the boat from the airport all excited about their fishing trip. Our target was to catch fish for the family, no specific species. We started trolling with two plainers down, one with a pink and blue sea witch and the other with a blue and white sea witch - both in front of a double hooked Bonito strip. For surface baits we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips.

I zig zagged back and forth over the three reefs we have off of Fort Lauderdale – the last reef sits in 120 ft. of water. If you venture off another ¼ of a mile from there, you will find yourself in 500 ft. of water due to our extreme drop off. The anglers took turns rotating and catching fish; we had a total catch 16 fish - three Kingfish, 11 Bonitos and two Barracudas.

With smiles on everyone's faces, the anglers retired into the a/c salon aboard the Happy Day Today for the trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. Their next stop was their hotel for some R&R.
