Don't Tell Mom Sportfishing 5/31/2026 - Fort Lauderdale Report

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Weekly Fishing Report | Don't Tell Mom Sportfishing – South Florida

This week brought a variety of conditions but steady fishing action across the board. Trolling and wreck fishing proved to be the most productive techniques, with anglers catching a great mix of Mahi-Mahi, Blackfin Tuna, King Mackerel, Bonitas, a Wahoo, and even a nice Red Grouper.

Our best trolling results came on 3.5" Drone Spoons fished on the planer, along with Sea Witches rigged with Bonita strips on both planer rods and surface baits. These presentations consistently produced fish throughout much of the week and kept the action steady.

As we moved closer to the full moon, the wreck fishing really began to shine. Both live and dead baits produced fish on the deeper wrecks, where we caught several Amberjacks along with a variety of other species. We also landed a nice Nurse Shark and caught several Yellowtail Snapper while bottom fishing.

For most of the week, fishing conditions were favorable with a steady east wind and light north current, which helped keep the bite active. However, as the week progressed, the east wind faded, the current slowed, and winds shifted more westerly. As is often the case, the bite became a little tougher during those conditions, especially as we approached the full moon.

Even with the slowdown over the last day or two, there was still plenty of action to be had, and we expect the fishing to improve again as we move away from the full moon cycle and more favorable conditions return.

Overall, it has been another excellent week of spring fishing in South Florida. Whether you're looking to fill the cooler with fresh fish or battle a trophy offshore species, this is one of the best times of year to get out on the water.

Don't miss out on the action. Give us a call or book your trip today!
