Variety In Fort Lauderdale

Capt. Vinnie Sacks
February 25, 2021
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, this week we have a good report with some excellent photos of some recent fish we have been catching. This weeks theme is variety, I say that because we have had a lot of of different types of fish we have been catching. As of recent the reef has been producing nice catches of blackfin tuna and some very nice sized ones at that which makes me to believe this spring coming up should be a very fishy one at that. As well as tuna on the reefs there has also been some occasional wahoo in the same area as well, we have been catching the wahoo while we are trolling for tuna primarily on our down lines fished with planers. Seawhiches with bonito strips has been the ticket for tuna and wahoo they tend to prefer darker colored baits as well. Bottom fishing has began to start heating up also which is always a great option if trolling is slow, snowy groupers have been biting on some of the deeper spots while using cut baits like squid or fresh bonito, snowy grouper is in my opinion one of the best eaten fish in the ocean and can be cooked a variety of ways and still taste great, there have been a few vermillion snappers also on the deeper shipwrecks as well, as spring approaches we should see the wreck fishing begin to heat up with lots of amberjacks and big groupers waiting to be caught. Last but not least we have been doing some slow pitch jjigging charters in the Fort Lauderdale with much success, snowy groupers as well as tilefish and another great fish to eat that we don't catch often is the Atlantic bonito similar to the little tunny that we call bonito here but the meat is pink in color and very very good sushi. Fishing has been very good as of late and should continue to improve even more as march rolls around so stay tuned for more great fishing reports. We do have some availability coming up so if your looking to go fishing now is the time, As always check out our great photos this week of some awesome catches we had, remember to follow us on Instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing and like us on facebook for daily fishing videos and reports.
