Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

The inshore and nearshore wreck fishing is keeping my crew very happy. Redfish are still the target specie with snook not to far behind. Getting the right bait is the key and enough of it for chumming the shorelines. Look for deeper cuts around the mangroves and oysters with good tidal flow. Snook are making their transition from the wrecks and beaches to the bays and creeks. Mixed in with the redfish and snook are trout, jacks and flounder. The choice of rig is a 2/0 circle hook with 30# flourocarbon leader.

The nearshore wrecks are holding a few cobia with all sorts of other species. I expect the cobia bite will shut off in the next few days as the water temperatures drop. Gag Grouper will be moving in with flounder and sheepshead. Don't forget about looking at the crab traps for tripletail. Get out there and enjoy the water with family and friends!

I specialize in light tackle saltwater fishing in the pristine backbays and nearshore wrecks of Southwest Florida. Whether we're targeting snook, redfish, or trout in the backbays or cobia, permit, shark, grouper, or tarpon on the wrecks. Whether you're a novice or an expert angler, i will take great pride sharing my knowledge and insight to provide my anglers with an enjoyable experience. Kids are always welcomed.
