Fort Myers Fishing Is Great After Irma Come On Down

Capt. Eric Anderson
October 6, 2017
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

One the weather settled down after Hurricane Irma the fishing really took off! There has been large mixed schools of Ladyfish, Spanish Macs, Pompano, and bluefish busting bait in the passes. The fish have been biting for hours at a time, this is one of the most fun fishing there is! You can spend all of your time "catching" something nearly every cast until you've had enough.

There are Spec trout on the flats as well. Remember that the water is very stained so slow down your presentations to give the fish time to locate your lure. This is especially true for specs. Top water lures are the go 2 baits right now since you can vary the speed easily and everything is eating them!

Get out there and enjoy some of the fastest action there is before they move farther south.
