Fort Myers Fishing Report - Large Schools Of Jacks Inshore

Capt. Eric Anderson
November 13, 2015
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

For reasons known only to the Jacks, I have been encountering large schools of 50 or more fish moving up the local rivers and the backcountry creeks. They act like mullet showing no interest in feeding at all. Even though they are not supposed to spawn inshore, their behavior sure looks like a spawning aggregation. This has been going on for 2 weeks and some of the schools are now offering up a tremendous topwater bite. You can't miss the boils so if you get out this weekend be sure to look for any topwater activity or birds diving the flats.

The fish below is the average size of the Jacks and they sure pull hard. Frequent client Randy S. from Minnesota sure got a workout catching this Jack.

The weather continues to be more like July then November but that's a good thing! Every day it stays warm is one less that we have to deal with falling water temps and tougher fishing. Fishing for most everything is good to excellent and don't forget to check the crab pot floats for Triple tail if the wind doesn't blow to hard.

We specialize in offering light tackle and fly fishing charters on the flats and in the back bays of Ft Myers and Fort Myers Beach. Just south of Fort Myers is Estero Bay which has an extensive network of lagoons, mangrove islands, tidal creeks and rivers. Fish with one of the Fort Myers Areas most experienced light tackle and fly fishing guides for Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, Trout and more. Be sure to ask us about night fishing, it is great for big Snook.
