Fort Myers Fishing Report - Clear Water Is The Key

Capt. Eric Anderson
January 28, 2015
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

The wind really churned up the gulf water and the incoming tides have been bringing in some very muddy water. As I anticipated the rough seas in the gulf brought all sort of fish into the bays to escape the pounding they were getting out in the gulf. Yesterday there were Spanish mackerel in areas of the back country I've never seen them before. There was also an influx of Jacks and we had some fast action on them for several hours.

The fishing is good, just find water that's not solid mud, slow down your presentations and you will catch fish on jigs using your favorite soft plastic and a piece of shrimp to give the fish that added incentive.

We specialize in offering light tackle and fly fishing charters on the flats and in the back bays of Ft Myers and Fort Myers Beach. Just south of Fort Myers is Estero Bay which has an extensive network of lagoons, mangrove islands, tidal creeks and rivers. Fish with one of the Fort Myers Areas most experienced light tackle and fly fishing guides for Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, Trout and more. Be sure to ask us about night fishing, it is great for big Snook.
