Fort Myers Fishing For Snook and Redfish Is Going Strong

Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report
It has been very pleasant to be on the water during the day thanks to cloud cover combined with the tides. The fishing has been pretty good with most everything biting on something. The first couple hours of the incoming tide the trout have been hitting top water in the deeper areas of the flats where they have been holding during the low tide. The Pompano fishing has been fair to good in all of the passes, you can see fish skipping around the boat but the turbid water in the gulf lately has reduced visibility which makes it tougher for them to see your jig. The redfish and snook action has been steady with some nice snook in the 40" class showing up all over the back country. We have had good luck using flukes or any twitch bait fished on the edge of the mangroves the first half of the outgoing tide, the redfish bite has been steady throwing jigs tipped with shrimp to the mangroves on the same tides. Look for the night fishing to improve as we get away from the full moon, it always makes the night bite tougher and can often have an adverse affect on the daytime fishing as well. Surface water temps have come down into the low 80's and that has really helped pick of the fishing during the middle part of the day. Get out there this coming weekend and don't spend to much time in any one area, move around till you find some active fish. Don't forget to check the beaches early for pods of cruising Tarpon, We have been seeing and them nearly every day when the water has been relatively clear and they are hitting swim-baits and crank baits well, but we are having one of those streaks where we get lots of one jump and off hookups but none to the boat, but that's Tarpon fishing.
Fort Myers Fishing Forecast:
The last two weeks of October could be the best fishing of the fall. We are coming off the full moon so the fishing will get better in general and the night fishing for Snook and Tarpon will really pick up. As the surface temps continue to cool the inshore bite for everything will really get going.
