Great Action Fishing The Inshore Waters!

Capt. Scott Theis
September 23, 2012
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

It has been action packed fishing for all sorts of species. Since fall has arrived the redfish are showing up in numbers inshore and nearshore wrecks. There are so many different ways to target these fish. We've been using live baits(pinfish or pilchards) pitched into the overhangs on the mangrove shorelines. Also, chunk bait(mullet or ladyfish) fishing around the oyster bars work just as good. While using this method you will come across snook, jacks, flounder and sharks.

The nearshore wrecks off Ft. Myers beach are producing grouper, redfish and a lot of good size spanish mackeral. Were using freelined pilchards with a 1/0 mustad 92673 hook and 40# flourocarbon leader for the mackeral and pinfish with a 4/0 eagle claw circle hook on the bottom for the grouper and redfish.
