Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

This week was hotter than Megan Fox! Tue, Wed, and Thurs (the dreaded 3 in a row)Curious enough they were all 3 Fly Charters, well check that, 2.5. My 3rd Dude wished to catch grouper. I know it is possible in shallow water but he wanted BIG GROUPER.
Tue was 25 sustained winds with gusts to 35. Surf inside Pine Island Sound was 3 feet. In other words, surfable. (Waves were closing out and take-offs had to be quick). You get the picture. For about 1 hour we looked. Saw nothing. Upon crossing Captiva Pass, there it was. A genuine food feeding orgy! Tarpon feeding on baby catfish, bonita, kings, spanish, and JACKS! Dudes, when I say orgy, I mean the massive injestion of their fellow kind. The bottom was all stirred up. Fish for flying out of the water. Sharks, dolphin, and big flippin arse RAYS. It was truly an amazing thing to see.
My guy, let's call him Paul because that was really is flippin' name, was a total expert with this 12 Wt Orvis Fly Rod (I actually considered stealing it bu surely you understand how diff this might me. When he was using it, he kept it locked between his freakin' legs and I ain't goin there. MAYDAY! Anyway, this Dude was intense on the fly. Perhaps one of the best on a GUFC (GiddyUp Fishing Charter). Far be it from me to brag about how another man slaughtered the fish but this cat was a bad mofo. Check it. Very Bad MoFo!
Grouper trolling was on fire when water temps said they shouldn't be here (87) . Colf front come in and drops tempts to 71. Nothing. We couldn't get a bite. Water temps go back up to 80 and the bite goes back on. Go figure cause I sure can't.
This is all I got except some major RED TIDE just moved in. Charter tomorrow. GiddyUp!
