incoming weather and wind will change things

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch

Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

It is 0600 on Wednesday. If I were young, inexperience, and had little regard for the fury of the Gulf of Mexico perhaps running my scheduled charter this AM would make sense. If you fish with me, my common sense says to error on the safe/conservative side. It is dead calm here on Pine Island. Not a whisper of wind. The automated weather channel shows a long line of incoming weather approaching from the Gulf of Mexico and moving across Florida to the Atlantic Ocean. Based on weather reports calling for 3-5FT seas, I feel quite stupid because it looks like all the technology is wrong. Think about about. I run the charter and get caught in what is forecast and I look like an idiot to SAY NOTHING OF MY LEGAL EXPOSURE if something should ever occur.

The fishing has been excellent but Wed-Sat is suppose to be blown out. No paycheck bites but sometimes proceeding forward in a cautious manner allows you to fish another day. I wish I had a crystal ball.

Grouper/Kings/Cobia are all biting 4-5 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico. Maybe I made a huge mistake this morning but when you are The Captain you and only you make the call.

Fort Myers Fishing Forecast:

Wed-Sat calling for 2-4 feet nearshore then going to 3-5.
