Fishing Estero Bay has been a challenge due to these weather patterns we've had. When the fronts past through and the water temperatures drop it's best to fish back in the creeks. This is where you'll find snook, reds and jacks. There are a few different methods to entice these fish. You can live bait them with pilchards and shrimp or a 1/4oz red jighead with a chartreuse plastic shrimp bounce slowly along the bottom. When the water temperatures warm up start targeting the middle part of the bay. Look for good moving water at the higher stages of the tides. Using a 1/4oz jighead with a live pilchard or shrimp pitched underneath a overhang is the go to. If the fish aren't there move down the shoreline. The grass flats are holding pompano and trout. Popping cork with a shrimp is the rig to target these fish.

The nearshore wrecks are still stacked with sheepshead. When there are calm days this has been great action for my clients. All you need is a 3/8oz jighead and a fresh piece of shrimp. Using this rig you'll come across snapper, flounder, grouper and pompano. There's also mackeral up in the water column.
