Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

On January 29th I had 2 great guys who I wished had fished with me yesterday. On January 30th I had a gentleman (with Ball&Chian in tow) fish with me whom I wished had fished with me on the 31Jan2011. The 29th and 30th charters had water temps in the mid
50's with a afternoon observed high of 60. Because Friday night was so cold, ditto for Sunday. Then came Monday.
Not a breath of wind. No milky emerald colored water. Water temps in the AM were 58 and when warmed to 60 all Hell broke loose on +25 MirrOlure 111MR Series Deep Divers. Pink and Orange in the morning and Green/Silver (118) in the late AM to early PM. HELLO BIG GROUPER! It was absolutely amazing. The bite had been extremely light because of the cold and milky appearance of the water but it all changed on Monday.
Today is Tuesday. FWC has already taken Snook off the table (and I applaud them for doing so) but removing GROUPER is simply wrong. Our new Governor (Rick Scott) needs to step up, grow a pair, and open Grouper Season for all Recreational Anglers and Charter Boats for Feb/Mar. If an "Executive Decree" can be made to suspend Snook Season until further notice, a decree can be made to reopen Grouper to help save our Florida Fishing Guides.
After the BP disaster and the economical impact on our fishery, how dare does Our Governor standby and allow such hard working men to be financially embarrassed? PLS help bring sanity back to the Florida Fishery. Contact the office of Governor Rick Scott and ask him to demonstrate the leadership he promised to bring if elected.
The Fishing Capital of the World (Florida) now has these limits.
No Grouper. No Snook. 1 Redfish. 4 Trout. "Fishing Capital of the World?" I don't think so.
Fort Myers Fishing Forecast:

Tarpon should start arriving in good numbers in 3-4 weeks plus the Kingfish/Cobia migration.
