March has arrived and the weather couldn't be better here in Southwest Florida. Over the past week, I had many great charters with many familiar faces as well as a few new clients. My bookings for the month of March are 90% full at this moment with just a few mornings and afternoons available. I don't want to sound like a broken record, but I urge you to contact me as soon as possible to get your dates booked.

Now let's talk fishing! We had many action packed charters this past week catching redfish, snook, grouper, trout, and sharks. I have began shiner fishing a little earlier this year due to the warm water temperature that has been pushing 75 degrees. The snook are making a very strong recovery since the freeze that we experienced a couple winters ago. I have seen more snook on the flats this year than I have seen since spring of 2009. I am expecting a spectacular spring of snook fishing which will complement an already strong redfish and trout fishery. I had snook register this week at 14lbs, 13lbs, and 11lbs all of which were taken on the flats of Pine Island Sound.

For those of you looking to pull on something a little bit bigger, the sharks are here in full force. We have been using cut mullet, ladyfish, and stingrays to entice them. Tarpon are starting to show in the bay and I have spoke to a couple other captains who have hooked a couple while dead baiting for sharks in the channels navigating through our shallow grass flats.

Redfish and Trout are still biting very well and we had many big fish boated this week. With the warm water temperature we are experiencing, look for the trout to start an early spawn. The redfish have all been between 22-and 35 inches with the fish of the week being a 14lber caught on a cut pinfish using a Penn Battle 3000 with 10 Berkley Nanofil line.
