Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Boy, have we had a beautiful run of weather over the past several days. 80 degree daytime temperatures have brought the water temps up in the Gulf and the back bays. We've also had calm winds so the water color has improved.
Estero Bay is giving up some nice redfish along the mangrove edges near the top of the tide. We've been using live shrimp, shiners and cut ladyfish, with all three working equally well. There's also been a mix of black drum and mangrove snapper.
The seatrout bite is getting better but they are still fairly well spread out. We aren't getting a ton of them but the ones we do catch are big.
There are some huge jacks in the backcountry. Over the past week my anglers have landed a 15, 17 and 20 pounder using live bait under corks. The 20 pound fish is the biggest I've ever seen in Estero Bay.
The nearshore reefs have been producing a nice mixed bag of fish. Spanish mackerel, sheepshead, seatrout, pompano, snook, mangrove snapper and gag grouper have all been caught using live shrimp on jigs and cut bait on circle hooks.
