Redfish, snook In Pine Island Sound

Capt. Ron Kowalyk
June 26, 2014
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

: The bay waters are very warm some look for shady deeper mangrove edges around the creek mouths that's where the redfish are hanging out. Early starts are a must and cutbaits and shrimp will fill the bait bill if you don't want to spend fishing time cast netting. Slot reds, snook and snapper all ate cut sardines and shrimp, easy boy presentations! My crews covered a lot of real estate in P.I. and Matlacha got find some upper slot spotails. The work is the reward, when the going gets tough, plenty of casting practice!

Charlotte Harbor again reported good results for reds and trout, bigger can be better!

There are plenty of snook on the beaches early in the morning. Fly guys, bucktail fishers and livebait addicts scored on the beaches all along our region. Debarb your circle hooks, jigs and flies and handle these treasures with care. But I'm sure you all ready do that. There were trout, pomps, reds and liners running in with the morning incoming tides. My crews stuck a few snook bottom bouncing shrimp on a jighead tight to the pass beaches. Good Stuff all around if you don't die from heat stroke!

The docks and deadfall around the passes are holding a nice mixed bag of biters, reds, sheepies, snapper, trout, flounder and pomps; bring lots of stinky shrimp!
