The redfish bite has been the best i've seen in years. All the bait from the grass flats are bringing in the schools of reds. You can entice these fish with a few different methods from a freelined pinfish, popping cork or a chunk bait. On the higher stages of the tide look for overhangs with good tidal flow and do the same around oyster bars.

The nearshore wrecks are covered up with mangrove snapper. Choice of rig is 20# flourocarbon with a #1 circle hook and a freelined pilchard. Also, the gag grouper are starting to slow down but were still catching a few keepers. I expect the grouper bite to pick up again with some cobia mixed in.

I specialize in light tackle saltwater fishing in the pristine backbays and nearshore wrecks of Southwest Florida. Whether we're targeting snook, redfish, or trout in the backbays or cobia, permit, shark, grouper, or tarpon on the wrecks. Whether you're a novice or an expert angler, i will take great pride sharing my knowledge and insight to provide my anglers with an enjoyable experience. Kids are always welcomed.
