Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Windy trip
The wind was howling as I pulled up to the dock to pick up my clients. After picking up my clients we took off for what would turn out to be a very bumpy ride.I was thinking this crazy to be on the water on a day like this. But we tried out some spots with very little success with a little persistence we finally found some fish that were cooperating. We started out with some average sized sheepsheads and mangrove snapper. Then as the afternoon sun started to warm up the water the snook started to bite. After catching some small ones Gary hooked into one that started to peel line off the reel at a fast pace.He landed a very respectable 35 1/2" snook. They also caught some nice sheepshead to 16" that would weigh 3 or 4lbs.They also got a nice redfish of 24".Not to bad for a crappy weather day.The fishing has been really good.Trips have been producing snook, redfish, seatrout, spanish makeral, bluefish, large magnum sized ladyfish, sheepshead, mangrove snapper and some small grouper.Snook have been hitting greenbacks and live shrimp freelined and with weights in deep holes and around piers.Sheepshead and mangrove snapper have been hitting live shrimp fished on the bottom.Spanish mackeral, bluefish, seatrout, ladyfish all have been hitting greenbacks floated on a cajun thunder float. Also they have been hitting silver spoons reeled fast through the school. With the onset of cooler weather I am looking for the snook in the backcountry creeks.Well that does it for this week. Thanks Capt Glenn.
