Southwest Florida Fishing Report - Bonita Springs to Captiva

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch
August 30, 2004
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

August 13th has changed Southwest Florida for years to come. The fish are still here but the Hurricane imparted some serious damage. I'm not sure where to begin but I'll do my best.

Redfish: The Reds are everywhere. Now is the best time of year in the shallows. A draft of 12" will work but a 9" draft works much better. Early AM is the only time to go look for tails and the incoming tide seems best.

Snook: The linesiders are still along the beaches. Bait is tough right now but hit the beaches early AM and late PM. Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnows are working really well.

Tripletail are all over the Gulf of Mexico. There is plenty of debris out there and checking it all is smart.

The Hurricane has set us back but we will be back. JB
