Southwest Florida Fishing Report - Bonita Springs to Captiva

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch
December 10, 2005
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Filming a new adventure of "Light Tackle Angler" Capt. John Follweiler out of Pineland, Fl I wish to PROMISE you a great TV Show. As a matter of fact, the four hours we spent on the water was enough to do 2 TV Shows! Oversize everything, including The Host (Capt. Follweiller) and CO-Host (me). We had a blast and the action was "ON FIRE!"

Big Snook/Little Snook: Capt. JF was pulling some nice snook out of this great dock. We were sheltered from the white caps of Pine Island Sound by a large sandbar (wind was 25MPH+). Trust me on one thing. 25MPH is not going to make me or Capt. John lose our balance as we did serious damage to the breakfest buffet at the Tarpon Lodge. Opps, back to fishin'. Anyway, I would not have taken the longest odds in the world on having a banner fishing day given the howling wind. But score we did! Snook after snook in the middle of the day. Just like that (finger snap) the snook turned off and the Redfish turned on.

Redfish: The rout was fast, furious, f-fun, and on film. Love those "F" words. Dock fishing offers some of the best redfish opportunities in SW FL. We slammed big ones (26.75) and smaller ones (22-23). All were released to bring us pleasure next time. But this dock offered us one more big "F" opportunity. F-Flounder! It was amazing!

Flounder fishing is very under rated. Capt. JF dragged in 3 or 4 keeped Gulf Flounder. We were going to take one back to the lodge for our camerman Adam (he is the camera guy for Blair Wiggins). The F-Flounder slipped out of my grasp and Adam is bigger than Capt JF. MAYDAY. We ate great burgers at the Tarpon Lodge instead of flounder. We kept zero fish.

The show will aire in Feb-Mar. We also scored grouper and trout. It was one heck of a F-Day! "GiddyUp" jb
