Southwest Florida Fishing Report - Bonita Springs to Captiva

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch
December 11, 2006
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Big Fat Live Shrimp have been instumental in the success of some monster snook taken from St James City canals. As well, decent numbers of juvenille Goliath Grouper are being caught and released as well.

Snook: Man O' Man has the snook fishing been good in our warm and toasty canals. Some of these bruisers simply cannot be corraled around the docks. As you would probably guess, most of the action takes place after dark. AND KNOW THIS: You try not to look but MAN Oh MAN do you see some sights at night. People doing all kinds of things in the "privacy" of their homes and some of it is down right ugly. "HEY, CLOSE THE DRAPES AND CURTAINS. Your killing me!" This is what I heard when I thought my newly installed tinted windows worked at night. MAYDAY!

Most are in the kitchen. Fryin' snook? Nope. Makin' Bacon!

Redfish: There seems to be an abundance of Rat Reds in Pine Island Sound. Outstanding fishing can be had NORTH OF DEMERE KEY. Try the potholes around the mangroves on an Incoming Tide.

Sheepshead: I go over my love for sheep after leaving the US Marines but their are plenty of sheepshead in Pine Island Sound. Cork Floats around mangroves and oysters bars will get you some head. Sheepshead.

Happy Holidays and if you are looking for a great Holiday Gift Idea please consider buying a US Serviceman or Woman a gift card and donate it to www.operationopenarms.com (If you holding some serious currency, treat one of Our Troops to a Fishing Charter) "GiddyUp"
