Southwest Florida Fishing Report - Bonita Springs to Captiva

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch
March 23, 2007
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

March is such a TOUGH WIND MONTH in SW FL. If we have 9 days of wind less than 10KTS, it would be a shock. The waters are warming and if you can catch a LOW PRESSURE FRONT DISPLACING A HIGH PRESSURE FRONT, this would define "FARTING IN SILK" If you do not understand how barometric pressue effects fishing, think about the first time you ever slow danced (circa 13) and couldn't walk back to your buddies without bring a certain attention to yourself. Onward!

This past week of fishing has been defined by HIGH WINDS from the wrong direction. East winds of +25 have dominated the Inshore Fishing.

Redfish: My plan has been to catch 5-7 Ladyfish , chop them into bite size portions, and chum-up the local area. One day we get Reds and the next day we get catfish. Like 23 Redfish one day, none the next.

Snook are moving out of the backwaters and toward the beach. Again, March is simply very windy in SW FL. Is there anything to talk about? No.

How would you like to be a fishing guide if the inshore waters look like the North Atlantic?
