Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report
As previously mentioned, wind has played absolute havoc with SW FL fishing. For March and April, how about 9 days out of 61 of wind 14MPH or less. For the first 8 days of May, the pattern has not changed. So much for the weather report but as you know, fishing and weather are joined at the hip.
Tarpon have been the talk town and the fish most willing to bend a rod. As the outside is usually blown out, all of the action has been in Pine Island Sound and San Carlos Bay. If you want Directions 101, try across the ICW from St James City to the Power Lines north. Pinfish under floats, thread herring free lined, and of course cut ladyfish. Countless sharks of all varieties.
Redfish: Large Redfish are on the bite near oyster bars. Cut ladyfish is the ticket you need to get punched. Why? Once again, high winds. Do you really think lures work in gales?
My 1PM looks to be another windy charter. Thanks for reading what seems to be a weak effort at best but I do not blow smoke. This is enough smoke out there already. "GiddyUp"
