Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

My charter on 7 Aug 2007 came at a heavy price. All of the Trout hooked by my customers were put under serious stress. With water temps exceeding 92 degrees, the hookup, fight, and subsequest release is taking a serious toll on our fishery. After death number three, it was time to depress all barbs. Still, the loses mounted. Finally a solution occured to me. "Let's go catch some Redfish."
Trout: Obviously the trout population is not the issue. As a matter of fact (and for the first time) I will not disclose where the slaughter is taking place. If you know, pls fish barbless hooks. Barbs have no function except to hold bait. So, go find em' yourself and I wish you the worst of luck. Bad attitude? I simply can't see killing a bunch of fish for the sport of catching fish. Remember this. I'll draw you a freakin' map when the water tempts go down.
Note: Maybe as I get older and see my own mortality my perspective changes to conservation. Onward!
Mangrove Snapper: In and around live oyster bars and docks/rocks, huge mangrove snapper are avail to those who use truly invisible leader and small baits hooked mid-lower body. Yummy for the tummy is Mangrove Snapper.
Tarpon: I have found a small school of Tarpon in Pine Island Sound. This is called HOORAY for GiddyUp and the heck with everybody else. Well, if I disclose per this forum I'll be fighting other Pro Guides for the school. The action on this guys is like a Girls Gone Wild Video (I would guess) but the poons are hitting Topwater in the early AM. The sun ain't even up yet.
How's that for hacking up the English language?
Redfish can be found if you have cut Ladyfish. 2 hours b4 High Tide around oyster bars and pot holes near mangrove shorelines. That's about it. I make no apologies for my Trout position.
Snook are still mating on the beach and will eat anything. I have not found Permit but will look tomorrow.
FINALLY, wanna see a great snook. I am the proud founder of www.operationopenarms.com To this end, OOA was the LEAD STORY on the Dept of Defense Website. I hate to say but I look damn good in this photo. The fish is the story. Check it out! http://www.defenselink.mil/news/newsarticle.aspx?id=46772
