Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Happy New Year! For the first 3 Months of 2008, my schedule will include Florida Sportsman Magazine Shows in Ft Myers and Sarasota. I'll be appearing both on the Inshore Stage (Fishing docks, bridges, seawalls) and the Offshore Stage (Trolling Big Lips Lures for MONSTER SNOOK, REDFISH, GROUPER, COBIA, & KING MACKEREL) As well, Pls feel free to look me up at the Miami Boat Show. Honda Marine and Andros Boats are teaming up for the next GiddyUp Fishing Charter and Operation Open Arms. This means the end of a very unhappy marriage I've experienced with Pathfinder Boats. The day cannot come soon enough and with this said, PLS look me up and let me show you my new Andros 23 Cuda. *Actually it is quite unfair to compare a custom built boat (100 per year) with a mass produced product such as a Pathfinder* Anyway, try to look me up in Miami, Sarasota, or Ft Myers. Onward.
The last week of 2007 was an excellent time to fish in SW FL. Tripletail, Kings, and Grouper are always a popular request and sometimes it works and sometimes not. This time we had some righteous success especially with Mr 3 Tail. Never will I ever understand anyone who doesn't throw a popping cork (with short Yo-Zuri invisible leader in light pink) at a 3 tail. Simply locate yourself downwind, figure out the drift, and float the cork right by them. I see so many DUMBASSES throwing a free lined shrimp (usually extra large which further qualifies for a PHD in Dumbassness) against the wind and have the tide take the boat right into the fish. WHY NOT ACCESS THE SITUATION BEFORE TAKING ACTION? THIS FISH IS SOOOOO stupid they will sit right there and await the proper presentation. I guess people just get "premature" and pull the trigger before the 3 Tail has been properly romanced. (I ain't even goin' where you think). Anyway, take your time with these prize fish. Breathe, relax, and think. There are plenty out there.
Kings and Grouper numbers are not off the charts but represent quite well. Try the May and GH Reefs off Ft Myers Beach. Cold Front is on the way which should bring more grouper close. "GiddyUp"
