Southwest Florida Fishing Report - Bonita Springs to Captiva

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch
January 26, 2008
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Before I start the fishing report, it is my wish to thank you for reading my dribble and to invite you to

(A) The Florida Sportsman Fishing Show in Ft Myers on Feb2-3. I'll be a seminar speaker for the 6 staright year. Offshore Stage at the Lee Civic Center. As well, if you can't make it to say Hi, perhaps look me up at the Miami Boat Show. I will be at the Honda Marine exhibit. Sarasota (Florida Sportsman Show) in March. GiddyUp and try to look me up.

Tripletail: If you got the scratch, this dog will run for them. A new supply of 3tails have moved into the 30Ft area off Estero Island. The great fish will really give you a nice fight. Most are in the 7-10LB range. Forget trying to free line a shrimp to them. Try a popping cork with short leader.

Grouper start at the 40FT ledges. Don't waste your time trolling around the May and GH Reefs. It ain't happenin'. There is not wrong with trying pinfish on the nearshore reefs.

Trout remain absent from the A-Frame bar near the Sanibel Causeway. Try "B" Span (Restrooms). For the bigger trout, try going North. North of Chino Island.

Snook are nicely stacked up in the residential canals around St James City. The night time is the right time. GiddyUp

PS: Can't find the pompano. Bad weather coming Sunday
