Sorry about the lack of reports this May-July but if you've fished with me before then you know that i was tarpon fishing and its not if were catching them it's how many were catching. May and June was awsome. We caught a ton of fish and plenty were big with a number going well over 200 pounds. My tournament team was fortunate enought to win the 2006 Professional Tarpon Tournament Series Championship in Boica Grande pass this year with a total weight of 319 pounds for two fish. We took home a 2006 22ft Century Bay boat with a 250 fourstroke Yamaha outboard.

Right now I starting to get geared up for two major championship redfish tournaments that my redfish team qualified for in the Panhandle. The Redfish Nation Championship will be in a about a week in orange Beach, Al and the FLW Championship will be next month in Pensacola, Fl. In the mean time I've been running trips and doing quite well most of the time. On days with low tides I've been doing well sight fishing tailing redfish up to about 12 pounds. Snook have been in the mix as well but most are just under the 27 inch slot. Seatrout are starting to school in the upper harbor as the fresh water is pushing out the baitfish. I've been struggling a bit on higher tides but I have been able get on baby tarpon on just about any day that the wind is calm. I've been having good luck throwing Zoom Super flukes when i've found them in less than three feet. The deeper water tarpon have been taking small swim baits.

Forecast: If your into sightfishing then its "game On" for the rest of the fall. Redfishing on low tide is on fire and there are plenty of snook and seatrout around to keep your head in the game while looking for reds. Oh yea, lures only. I almost always out fish bait with lures this time of year.
