Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Charlotte Harbor Feast or Famine Fishing Report

I fished a couple of days after the cold front and the fishing was really tough. We caught a handfull of trout and a couple of oversized redfish. Since then the fishing has really picked up. The past few days has produced excellent catches of redfish up to 15 pounds and lots of good sized trout and some small snook. I have also be seeing some large over sot snook but I haven't been able to get them to bite arties.

Sheephead are starting to move inshore and they are holding near any deep water structure. Use shrimp in a jig for the best results.

Offshore I hear of reports of lost of good sized kinfish but I haven't had time go out and try them for myself. I heard that the migration is mostly south of Boca Grande Pass.

I specialize in light tackle saltwater, and fly fishing from the backcountry of the 10,000 Islands to flats of Pine Island Sound and the bay system of Charlotte Harbor. I have pick-up locations out of Ft Myers, Marco Island, Pine Island, Punta Gorda and Boca Grande. I like to target big fish. During warm months, tarpon, sharks, snook, redfish, cobia, king mackerel and big jacks are the main species sought after. Most of the winter months are devoted to redfish, trout, snook and grouper.
