Ft. Myers - Offshore

Capt. Rick Featherstone
December 3, 2001
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Big Kings & Big Reds

Greetings;

Thanks to the nice weather we have enjoyed lately fishing has been very consistent. Although I have not made many long runs offshore, we have had plenty of nice bragging fish to show for our efforts.

I am still running quite a few half day trips this time of year. . Our half day is five hours, and back at the dock at noon. King mackerel and large bull redfish have been our main target fish along with spanish mackerel and some nice gag grouper just for the heck of it.

Fishing with live baits either drifting or slow trolling has been my main method but anchoring and chumming has also worked well at times. Some kings are over twenty pounds and all of the redfish have been fifteen pounds. Of course they are all catch and release fish. Looking for a rod bending reel screaming time? Look withing ten miles of the beach.

Good luck,

Capt. Rick Featherstone
