Ft. Myers - Offshore

Capt. Rick Featherstone
November 26, 2003
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Seasons Change

Greetings,

Greetings,

Its hard to find a place to start. Things are changing quickly but here goes. Last week loads of tarpon showed up along the Sanibel beach. They were starving and we caught them like it was going out of style. If tarpon are ever easy, this was it. Many were jumped in the hundred pound range on fly. Lefty‘s Deceiver was the fly of choice. Huge schools of Spanish mackerel invaded the near shore waters giving everyone action on fly, bait, and plugs. A clouser on a seven weight was the ticket to the most fun. Since the cold front passed big cobia are around as well as some big bull redfish. Cudas are eating live baits but kingfish are hard to find in close like before. The larger rock piles and wrecks in less than forty feet of water seem to be the best place for big redfish right now.

Tight Lines,

Capt. Rick
