Ft. Myers - Offshore

Capt. Rick Featherstone
December 14, 2006
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Greetings,

Greetings,

With the good water quality and thick bait local fishing has been very good lately. Near shore sheepshead, Bull Redfish, and False Albacore have been thick. The sheepshead have responded well to shrimp on head knocker rigs. The others love Rapala Slash baits and white buck tails.

Further out Goliath and snapper have been our main target. Chumming hard with block chum with bring the snapper up into the slick. Free lined and light jigs tipped with shrimp will get the bite started. Drop any snapper back deep and hang on for the Goliath of your dreams to pull your arms off.

This is the time of year that cold fronts are passing through. Fish in front of them for best results and be mindful that the weather can be extreme with squalls leading the way when these fronts pass.

Sincerely,

Capt. Rick
