Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report
Backbay and flats action has picked up and will continue to get better with the Spring tides upon us. Hopefully you can get out on flood stage and maneuver the grass flats oyster bars and mangrove islands before the midday cook-off. Trout will be an easy fun target for first time and old timey buggy whippers, fly rodders. This is topwater time for trout, ladyfish, reds and snook on the oyster bars in the potholes and at the jug necks, creek mouths to you Yankees.
If you're busy, busy just opt for shrimp in varying degrees of repair, live, frozen or a tad stinky pinky, my favorite for chum and as an add-on to the summer season lil' crickets. Slip sinker rigs and old timey popping cork and shrimp dressed jig heads are top Spring-Summer time producers for my favorite target redfish and specks, easy-peezy sports fans.
Freelined whitebait, any big shrimp you can dig up and soft plastics should put you on the snook. Don't overlook those winterover-dropback areas around river mouths in canals and any docks and rip-rap around the passes.
Gotta give it up now, my brain is about empty, my typing finger all one of em is sore and I got get ready for tomorrow? Qualify less, enjoy fishing more!
Ring me and the A" team up, for a fun day on the water, families, kids always welcome aboard our 23'8" flats and bay boat! Multi boat trips available!
