Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for the week ending 8/8/2011
Summer is winding down and we can look back at what was a great season, especially after last year. This was one of the strangest Tarpon seasons in recent memory.
With a low preasure system skirting the state over ther weekend bringing lots of rain, west winds up to 20 mph and higher than normal tides. The high water makes for good fishing in the mangroves for redfish and snook, live shinners, pinfish or cut ladyfish are the best bets.
Sea trout and mackerel are still good around the beaches and passes, live shinners either free linned or under a popping cork works best and lots of chumming.

Fishing with Bruce Krohn and his son ,he"s shows off a nice sea trout.
There are still some mangrove snapper in the mouth of the river suprisingly with the amount of rain we have had and the low salinity of the water. Live shinners and lots of patience pays off.
