Wind less wind (25-35 daily) things could get Muy Caliente

Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

OK, I'm droppin' a little international flavor on ya but so what. The fishing is SW FL is moving towards hot (next week), Hotter (week 1-2 of April), and hottest (from April 21 to May 25th). How do I know? Because I am getting a little older and a lot wiser. (This July 8th I will be 39 again. Considering I was a 1/Lt in the USMC in 1972, not a bad aging process). Thank goodness we are almost out of the most windy month of the year. MARCH. It blows Dude! Not one charter this month with winds less than 20MPH. This week, the wind should die down and the fishing should pick up.

SNOOK: Night snook fishing is on fire. On a recent trip to Ft Myers Beach, we scored 4 out of the slot linesiders. The Atty who booked me wanted to keep a 34.5" fish. He said, "I'll pay the fine and if you want a nice tip, just look the other way." Oh Really? Telling "The Captain" what to do on my boat. Hmmmmm. How do you think this went over especially when he said, "This fish is going in the cooler." I smiled and said, "You right. What the hell. I'll throw him in there." And yes I did. I threw the big Mama Snook back in the water right in front of him. "You're an a-hole" (geeze, never been called that before). I motored over to the dock at Moss Marine and told these jerks to get off my boat. NEVER EVER TELL A PROFESSIONAL GUIDE WHAT TO DO ON HIS BOAT. These 2 Peckerwoods from Atlanta had to take a cab from Ft Myers Beach to Sanibel.

Grouper: Inshore grouper trolling has been fairly good if you know where to go. Try trolling the ICW and from C-Span to Sanibel Pier. Never forget the fenders. Never!

Redfish: I'll be looking for them this Wednesday. I have no clue at this time. Unlike some guys, I do not score every single time I go out on the town. Read between the lines to get my drift.

Trout: Scoring nice trout (3-5LBS) has been fairly easy if you have the right tides and the right DOA Shrimp. I love the Redhead with Pearl on 3".

Tarpon: They are now starting to show up. April is usually our best month. Tarpon charters are my favorites. It should get hot very soon. "GiddyUp"
