Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Backbay: Crews found excellent numbers of mixed size reds from rat to bulls in the wayback lagoons. Estero Bay, Charlotte Harbor and P.I. were all generous to shrimp flipping crews who worked the bushes, creeks and blackwater lagoon for reds. Trout bites are reaching their best of the season and crews reported upper slot fish limits the rule in all the local waters. Live shrimp, Gulps and flies all took a share of the nice catches.
Snook anglers reported good numbers of liners in the feeder creeks and around the docks and canals. With good moving water; again shrimp fit the
"easy boy" pattern with even frozen crickets on a bright colored jig head reasonable offerings. My crews caught snook, reds, trout, snapper, flounder, spiny box fish and sheepies with a surprise barracuda at the mouth of one feeder creek in Estero Bay. Doctor Seuss woulda been proud, I like it! Mullock Creek, the Estero River, the Imperial, the Caloosahatchee, the Myakka and Peace are all holding snook, baby poons and bass, good stuff! The Cape Coral Canals are loaded with giant jacks and good numbers of snook. Nights under the lights are producing mega catches of mixed size liners and others critters, wear your snowmobile suit and life vest.
