Ft. Pierce Inshore - Offshore Report

Capt. Joe Ward
March 12, 2011
Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

March 11, 2011

OFFSHORE - Lots of windy conditions this week have made the offshore fishing tough for most anglers. But, the bigger boats are reporting kingfish action in about 50 feet of water and they are taking a slow trolled live bait -- if you were one of the lucky ones to find them. There are still some cobia being reported as well as amberjacks. Along the beaches you will find bluefish and spanish mackerel and they are taking spoons and cut baits.

INSHORE - Inshore there has been a pretty good trout bite most of this week at places like Bear Point, Herman's Bay and Harvey's Cut. Try using a live shrimp under a popping cork. I am still getting reports of redfish taking gold spoons or soft plastic baits. Try the area around Jack Island and Queen's Cove. The sheepshead are still around -- just find some structure and you will find them. Try a small live shrimp. Around the Ft. Pierce Inlet the catch and release snook action remains steady when using a live bait. There has also been a good pompano bite in the same area. The spanish mackerel and bluefish are in the Inlet and Turning Basin and they are taking spoons.

If you would like to report a catch you can e-mail me at cward11605@aol.com or call me at 772-201-5770. You can also reach memon the web at www.captjoeward.com
