Fishing Report for Ft. Pierce, Florida

Capt. Joe Ward
September 19, 2000
Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

Inshore fishing has been good this past week as long as you were fishing just before sunrise or just before sunset for the trout and snook. The snapper have been feeding all day as long as the water was moving.

TROUT - Trout fishing has been good from about daylight until 8:00am. After that it was pretty much a hit and miss thing. Pigfish or large live shrimp are working best.

SNOOK - Croakers or pigfish have been the bait of choice in the Turning Basin and in the Ft. Pierce Inlet. Mullet seems to be the ticket at Taylor Creek and at the North bridge.

SNAPPER - The snapper seem to be everywhere with the bridges, Inlet and the channel edges producing the better size fish. Small live shrimp is the snapper's bait of choice.

With the weather we are having all I can say is try to stay dry!
