Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well, if you have a boat I bet you didn't use much fuel this past week. Both the inshore and offshore were a mess this past week because of the North east winds that were 15 to 25 mph. The wind had the river looking like chocolate milk with a 3 foot chop and the ocean with 6 to 8 foot swells with a wind chop on top of that. This kept most anglers at the dock.
Just about the only thing going on this week was for the anglers who were fishing from the shore, bridges and the Ft. Pierce Jetty. Snook action has been realy good in the Turning Basin and around the North bridge. The only problem is that most of the fish were too big, over the 34 inch slot limit. Live mullet has been taking most of the snook.
The snapper bite has slowed just a little but I had a few reports of some nice flounder showing up in the river and also that the blue fish are starting to show up in the river and the surf. Hopefully this wind will die down and we can get back to fishing.
I did get an e-mail from the Elizer family. On September 29, Josh Elizer age 10 & 1/2 caught his first snook. On October 6 Josh's dad, Jim Elizer caught a 30 inch snook while fishing in the Ft. Pierce Inlet.
Last weekend my wife and myself went to Titusville and fished in the HUNT FOR REDS IN OCTOBER tournament. This was one of the best run tournaments I have ever fished in. There was over 1000 anglers and everyone had a great time. Even though my wife, Cammie, didn't catch a red fish she still had a great time and learned a lot about fishing for red fish.
Until next week, good fishing.
