Fishing Report for Ft. Pierce, Florida

Capt. Joe Ward
October 29, 2000
Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

Inshore anglers have had a hard time these last two week trying to stay out of the wind. The anglers that did try to go out had to find a patch of clear water in the river that looks like chocolate milk. The lucky ones had reports of catches on Monday and Thursday. They reported that the snook and redfish were in the Inlet and that live mullet fished on the out going tide was the way to go. I had several repots of big snook, over the 34 inch slot limit, being caught and released in the Taylor Creek area. Live mullet took these snook also. Snapper and black drum have been biting on large shrimp off the catwalks of both the north and south bridges and in the drum hole at Faber Cove. Last but not least are the jacks, bluefish and a few spanish mackerel. They have been plentiful in the Inlet and around both bridges. Trout fishing has been almost a no go with the winds and they dirty water.

Until next week, good fishing.
