Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report
Inshore fishing has been red hot for most of the week for redfish, most all bottom fish like snapper, sheephead, sandperch and also for catch and release trout. Snook fishing has been a little slow except for the pre dawn hours. The jacks, bluefish and a few spanish mackerel have invaded the Inlet. Green tube lures are all you need to catch these fish.
TRIPLETAIL - The tripletail are all over the ocean. This week on the Slow and Easy, Jay Sizemore and myself had 8 tripletail that went from 8 to 20 pounds with most of the fish in the 15 pound range. Large live shrimp and a weedline is all that it took to take these fish.
CATCH & RELEASE TROUT - Trout are all over the river to the North. Topwater bait fished early in the morning or hand picked shrimp are producing some very nice fish.
REDFISH - The mangroves around Round Island to the North and Little Mud Creek to the South are holding a large number of fish. Once early morning hours are best and use live shrimp.
SNAPPER, SHEEPHEAD, & SANDPERCH - These fish are all over the bridges. The best time is the last of the incoming tide. All you need is small to medium shrimp, the lightest sinker you can get away with and a #2 long shank hook.
