Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

INSHORE - Well, as most of you know this has been the windiest week we have had for a while and this has made offshore and even the inshore fishing not very easy. I took a ride in search of a few diehard anglers to see of anything was being caught. I started around the Stuart bridges just before daylight on Thursday morning. I meet Mike Larson. Mike was snook fishing with live mullet under the new bridge on U.S.#1. We talked for about 30 minutes and he told me he had been catching a few fish here this week and just before I left he caught a 10 pounder. I went to the Jensen Beach Causeway to see if there was any action there. John and Anne Peterson from North Carolina were catching a few snad perch and plenty of catfish. Robert Mays from the Stuart area caught and released a nice snook, about 12 pounds, from under the bridge. Robert was using live shrimp fished on a trol-rite hook. Robert said that he had caught two more snook earlier in the morning. I stopped several times along A-1-A and found Jimmy Maxwell with a limit of trout to 2 & 1/2 pounds that he had caught on live shrimp and a popping cork while fishing in about 3 feet of water. I talked to Don Jackson of Ft. Pierce while he was fishing around Big Mud Creek and he said that the fishing was slow for him. Al Turner of Port St. Lucie was doing a little wading at Bear Cove and was doing quite well on small school size trout and ladyfish. Al was using a Zara Pup in the red and white color.
I got several reports of flounder being caught from the bridges, Jetty and even the Turning Basin. The South Bridge was giving up a good mix of bottom fish when using live shrimp. The snook have been around the North Bridge and at the Jetty. Also at night the walls at the Turning Basin have been gining up a few snook. There was two caught and released that were over the 34 inch slot limit.
Hopefullt this next week the wind will clam down and we can get back to some serious fishing.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DAUGHTER, TINA.!!!
Until next week, good fishing.
