Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

Things are finally settling down after all the wind and rain we have had thanks to hurricane Michelle. On Tuesday there was still a lot of wind but no rain. Wednesday and Thursday were even better with no rain and even less wind. And finally on Saturday and Sunday the boats were able to go offshore.
SNOOK - The snook have been up in Taylor Creek since the weather has gotten better. I was up there three days last week and the snook were everywhere. Most of the snook were legal, but there were a few snook that were caught and released that were over the slot limit. Live mullet, a feather or a Boomber lure were the baits that worked best up in the Creek. The North Bridge is still producing nice size snook if you were one of the ones that went out at night. The bite changed to a day bite on Wednesday. Live pigfish were the way to go at the North Bridge.
SNAPPER & SHEEPSHEAD - There was a good snppaer and sheepshead bite starting on Wednesday at the catwalks of the South Bridge and along the wall behind the Ft. Pierce Library. Live shrimp was the bait to use for these fish.
SANDPERCH, SPANISH MACKEREL & JACKS - There are plenty of sandperch at both the area bridges and along the wall behind the library. The Spanish mackerel are inside the Ft. Pierce Inlet as well as at all the local bridges. A small silver spoon is the best bet for these fish. The jacks are all over the river and will provide you with a good fight.
Until next week, good fishing.
