Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

Happy Thanksgiving!
For most of the week the inshore fishing has been good with plenty of catch and release trout actin on the area flats in 3 to 5 feet of water when using live shrimp and if you were fishing in the morning hours.
The snapper and sheepshead are still plentiful along the channel edges. Live shrimp seemed to be the way to go to land these fish. And while we are talking about the channel edges, the grouper have started to feed on live bait or a slow trolled, big, deep diving plug. Try the area from the North Bridge up to Round Island and back. On one charter this week we had a 31 inch grouper.
The area bridges are still going strong with plenty of sandperch, sheepshead, snapper and black drum. Live shrimp or fresh dead shrimp were the way to go.
Now for the snook action. There were quite a few snook caught this past week, but they have been picky about what they will eat and when they will eat it. So, It's just a matter of putting in your time with the best bet still being the bridges in Ft. Pierce and Taylor Creek. At the bridges in Ft. PIerce the snook have wanted pigfish or a Red-Tail Hawk. Up in Taylor Creek the snook have been feeding on big mullet.
There has been plenty of surf action with the bluefish, Spanish mackerel and pompano making a good showing. These fish have been feeding trough out the day.
Until next week, keep fishing.
