Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

This morning at 10:30am my wife, Cammie, finally broke her tripletail record. Her old record was 16.75 pounds and today she boated an 18 pounder and a 11 pounder. What a way for her to start off tripletail season. These fish usually don't show up until April but thay have come here early this year.
The snook fishing has been steady even with all the wind we have had. Pigfish and pinfish are still the live baits of choice and a Flair Hawk has been hard to beat. Most of the snook have been in the 8 to 12 pound range with only two going over the slot limit.
There has been good reports of sandperch, snapper, sheepshead and a few bluefish being caught from the catwalks of the south bridge. Live shrimp or fresh dead shrimp have been the best bet.
Trout fishing has been steady if you found a place out of the wind. I caught trout to 6 pounds last week. I was using a live shrimp fished inder a popping cork. The flats around Harbor Branch and Round Island have been the most productive.
Until next week, keep fishing.
