Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

Inshore fishing has been on one day and off the next and with all the rain we are having the water is flooding out of Taylor Creek and making the river a mess. About the only fish that likes this kind of water is the snook and they have been making a good showing up in Taylor Creek. Try a live mullet for the best results and remember that snook season is closed so practice catch and release.
There have been a few nice size trout caught to the north in the river. Try Harbor Branch, Round Island and the Moorings in Vero Beach. A live pigfish or a large shrimp and a popping cork have been the way to go.
There is still a good run on snapper along the channel edges and around the docks. On one charter we had snapper to 2 & 1/2 pounds on Saturday. We were using live shrimp.
The flounder bite that has been going on around the North Bridge has just about come to and end. I have only had one report of a flounder being caught this week. Live shrimp was the way to go.
Hopefully the rain will let up and the water will clear up and we can do some serious fishing.
Until next week, good fishing.
